They come from the famous Jaipur Blue Pottery craft, which is over 400 years old and has roots in Persian glazing techniques brought to India by the Mughals. Unlike regular clay diyas, blue pottery diyas are made using a mixture of quartz stone powder, glass, Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth), borax, and gum—not clay. This makes them quite different because they are non-clay, low-fired, and beautifully glazed.

Features of the Blue Pottery Diyas

  • Handcrafted and hand-painted with traditional motifs (floral, geometric, bird designs).

  • Colors available in bright blue, turquoise, white colors, green and yellow.

  • Smooth glazed finish, making them reusable (easy to wash and long-lasting).

  • Eco-friendly since they don’t use lead in the glaze.

🌙 Why special for diyas?

  • They combine tradition (diya lighting in festivals like Diwali) with art (Jaipur craft).

  • Aesthetic and ornamental—often used not just for lighting but also for decor, gifting, or as a collectible craft item.

  • Symbol of Rajasthan’s rich craft heritage.
